At the Mondial de l’Auto 2026, the Paris Motor Show, Changan introduced its NEVO brand to Europe under the theme “Firmly Rooted, Growing Together”. The Chinese manufacturer used the show to present its global brand and product line-up, including three new models bound for South Africa and the global debut of the AVATR CONCEPT T09.
The carmaker has served Europe for 25 years and has moved faster there since launching the Changan and AVATR brands in Germany in March 2025, with Deepal following at the IAA Mobility show in Munich that September. “Changan is here for the long term, putting down roots and growing in Europe,” said Zhao Fei, General Manager of Changan Group. Nearly 400 sales and service outlets across 15 European countries are planned by the end of 2026, growing to 650 by 2027.
NEVO Q05 electric compact SUV
NEVO is the family-focused “new energy” line from Changan, and the all-electric Q05 is its first model developed for global markets. One million customers have chosen NEVO in three years, and in China the Q05 has been the best-selling compact SUV for six consecutive months. It offers generous space, an efficient powertrain, intelligent systems and a 5-star safety rating, and targets value-conscious urban professionals and families. Europe gets it in Q1 2027.
NEVO Q06 range and cabin
Larger and sleeker, the Q06 is a mid-size crossover SUV designed in Europe. Its electrified powertrain provides 100 km of electric-only range and a combined range of over 1,000 km, while the cabin features an Intelligent Cockpit.
Deepal S07 facelift and AVATR concept
Already on sale locally, the Deepal S07 is a rear-wheel-drive electric coupe-SUV. Paris saw the reveal of a facelifted version alongside a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) derivative. Also on the stand were the right-hand-drive Deepal S05 PHEV and the CS55 (UNI-S) PLUS BlueCore HEV, the latter shown outside China for the first time.
The AVATR CONCEPT T09 is the brand’s tech-luxury flagship SUV. Its super-hybrid system pairs a 180 kW 2.0-litre turbocharged engine at the front with two 225 kW motors at the rear, for a combined 630 kW.
Changan launch timing in South Africa
Marinus Venter, Country Manager at Jameel Motors South Africa, said it was “wonderful to see new South Africa-destined vehicles unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show”. The NEVO Q05, the facelifted Deepal S07 and the S07 PHEV are due in South Africa in the third quarter of 2027, while the NEVO Q06 is confirmed for the local market with timing still to be finalised. Pricing has not yet been announced.
