Prize money and community projects
Cash prizes range from R5 000 to a grand prize of R70 000 for one individual. Eugene Herbert, CEO of MasterDrive, says that amount is “enough to clear a debt, cover school fees or pay a deposit on a home”, adding that the only cost of entry is a minimal time investment.
A significant portion of the money is meant to reach beyond the winning organisation. In categories such as Best Organisation and Most Improved Truck Stop, the prize money is directed towards community initiatives and improvement projects. “Winning entries can have an impact well beyond the company that submitted it,” says Herbert.
Prize Bonanza daily draw winners
Over the past week, everyone who completed an entry went into a daily lucky draw. Prizes already handed out, and still up for grabs, include a vehicle medical kit, two R1 000 Takealot vouchers, a power bank, wireless earphones, a vehicle phone holder with a multi-port charging cord and a fitness watch. Winners have come from across the industry, and each one qualified simply by completing an entry before the deadline.
Missed entries at the Fleet Safety Awards
Nishani Chetty, Managing Director of Commercial and Brand at MasterDrive, says opportunities are missed every year when fleets with strong safety efforts never submit an entry. “These safety efforts deserve more than to be overlooked because of a missed deadline,” she says.
Entries draw on information fleets already hold, and the organisers note that the more specific and measurable an entry is, the higher it will score. Around thirty minutes spent on an entry gives several chances to win, both in the daily draw and at the final ceremony.

Submissions are made at fleetsafetyawards.co.za/site/ and must be in before 23:59 on Friday, 16 October. A completed entry also secures a place in the remaining Prize Bonanza draws.
