Chinese commercial vehicle maker Foton is preparing to introduce its Tunland double-cab pick-up to the United Kingdom, with sales there planned for early 2027. The vehicle pairs the size of a full-size pick-up with a comfort-focused interior, and it is aimed at buyers who use a bakkie for work, family life and weekend trips.

Foton Tunland design and powertrain
Up front, the Tunland has a prominent grille, distinctive lighting and muscular proportions. Its double cab seats five and sits ahead of a practical load bed, so it serves both business and leisure use.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The electrified side gives assistance at low speeds, while the diesel keeps the usability pick-up owners know. A multi-link rear suspension is fitted to improve ride quality and composure, particularly when the bakkie is unladen.
Tunland cabin and equipment
Inside, the cabin uses soft-touch, stitched materials alongside physical button controls. Equipment includes a large central touchscreen, a digital instrument display, automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, driver-assistance systems and an opening panoramic roof.
David Clark, Brand Manager at Foton UK, said the Tunland represents the brand’s ambition to offer UK buyers “a compelling alternative in the pick-up market”. He added that Foton’s many global commercial and engineering partnerships mean “this is not just another Chinese entrant in the UK market”.
Foton and International Motors partnership
Foton will be distributed in the UK by International Motors Ltd, which also handles Subaru, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Motors and GWM there. IML, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2026, runs a vehicle import and preparation facility in Sheerness and a 240,000 sq. ft parts warehouse in West Bromwich.
Founded 30 years ago and based in Beijing, Foton builds trucks, vans, pick-ups, buses and construction machinery, and has sold more than 13 million vehicles globally. Its electric trucks, vans and buses are already sold in Italy, Germany and Malta.

UK pricing and availability
Final UK specifications, pricing, model availability and details of the sales and aftersales network will be announced in due course. Further information will come from Foton UK ahead of the Tunland’s arrival in early 2027.
