For a second consecutive year, the IONIQ 9 electric SUV from Hyundai has been named Best Seven-Seater at the Parkers New Car Awards, taking the 2027 title. The judges recognised its usable seven-seat cabin, passenger comfort, technology and family-friendly practicality.
Now in their tenth year, the Parkers Awards identify the best new cars in UK showrooms. For 2027, the editorial panel significantly reduced the number of categories to focus on the parts of the market that matter most to buyers.

Why Parkers chose the IONIQ 9
Tom Webster, Parkers head of content, said that while lots of cars offer seven seats, “none offer the ability to genuinely transport seven adults in the comfort that the Hyundai IONIQ 9 manages.” He also pointed to the seat adjustment, the light from the panoramic roof, the charging speed and the range of technology on board.
A run of awards for the large SUV
The win extends a series of awards over the past 12 months. After its earlier Parkers recognition, the SUV was named Comfortable Cruiser of the Year at the 2026 Carwow Awards, Large Car of the Year at the 2026 Company Car & Van of the Year Awards, Large Crossover of the Year at the 2026 UK Car Awards and World’s Best Large SUV at the 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year Awards.

Built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the model uses a 110.3 kWh battery and has a WLTP driving range of up to 385 miles. Its 800V electrical architecture supports ultra-rapid charging.
Three powertrains are offered: 218PS RWD Long Range, 307PS AWD Long Range and 427PS AWD Performance. With the third row folded flat, luggage capacity reaches up to 908 litres.
