Judges at the What Car? Used Car Awards in the UK have named the Lexus Select approved pre-owned programme a joint winner, sharing the honour with sister brand Toyota’s Approved Used scheme. The two brands received the same recognition in 2025 for their used vehicle warranty programmes.

Mark Pearson, What Car? Used Cars Editor, said the judges looked for a scheme that covers older cars, offers strong EV and hybrid cover, includes a full mechanical check and provides good breakdown cover. According to Pearson, the scheme won “primarily because it offers its potential 10-year warranty and is open to all used Lexus, whether bought from a dealer or even serviced in the past by Lexus.”
Lexus Select inspection and roadside assistance
Cars sold through the programme must meet the manufacturer’s quality criteria. Each one is inspected by Lexus technicians and has to pass a 150-point quality and safety appraisal, which includes Hybrid Health, mechanical and engine or battery condition checks.
Buyers also receive 12 months’ full roadside assistance cover, with breakdown and recovery services at home or on the road. A safety kit is supplied in the boot of every vehicle.
Warranty, accident care and exchange policy
The Lexus Select Warranty is included each time a vehicle completes a qualifying service at an approved Lexus centre. That cover continues until the car reaches 10 years of age or 100,000 miles driven.
Owners are further supported by complimentary 24/7 accident care in the event of a collision. There is also a 30-day/1,000-mile exchange policy, whichever occurs first, under which a customer can swap any vehicle with Lexus Select Approved Pre-owned status bought from a Lexus centre for another at the same centre.
