In the third quarter alone, group sales dropped 6.0% to 497 799 vehicles. Northern Europe was a bright spot across the nine months, with passenger car sales up 6.0%, including gains of 8.6% in Germany, 3.8% in the United Kingdom and 24.2% in Denmark.
Electric vehicle demand in Europe
EV sales climbed 84.7% in the quarter, raising their share of passenger car sales by 12.2 points to 25.8%. Counting hybrids and plug-in hybrids, electrified models made up 54.9% of passenger car sales. Retail sales in Europe increased 5.0%, while short-term rental and demo sales were cut by 18.0%.
Chief financial officer Duncan Minto said the group had “successfully adapted to Europe’s fast-shifting energy mix, leveraging our dual EV and hybrid strategy”.
Renault Group outlook and new models
The company expects an operating margin of around 5.5% of group revenue for 2026 and automotive free cash flow of around €1.0 billion. It warned that the usual second-half seasonal uplift will be smaller than in previous years because of higher raw material costs and inflation.
Inventories stood at 532 000 vehicles on 30 September 2026. Models due in the second half include the new Megane E-Tech electric, Trafic Van E-Tech electric and Duster E-Tech hybrid from Renault, plus the Sandero Hybrid, new Spring and Striker from Dacia.
