Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team drivers George Russell and Kimi Antonelli have swapped their race cars for off-road machinery ahead of the Formula 1 MSC Cruises United States Grand Prix 2026 in Austin, Texas. The pair drive INEOS Grenadier 4X4s in a new film, pulling in to a pit stop of a very different kind.
The Grenadier Grit Stop film
Made as part of a wider marketing campaign called ‘Make Grenadier Your Own’, the film shows the teammates leaving the tarmac and steering into a ‘Grit Stop’. There, a Grenadier pit crew works quickly to fit accessories, camping kit and customised enhancements to each vehicle.
Once released, the drivers head for the hills to test the off-road ability of the 4X4 on mountain tracks and forest trails. When they stop for a break, each discovers a couple of unique features on his vehicle that reflect his own individual passions.
Customisation as the campaign message
The light-hearted production is meant to show how the Grenadier can be tailored to suit a buyer’s specific needs, preferences and character, so that owners can experience the outdoors in a way that is personal to them.
Jonathan Hill, Chief Marketing Officer at INEOS Automotive, said the vehicle is “designed to give owners the freedom to customise their vehicle to fit whatever their ‘more’ may be.” He added that the brand hopes the film “inspires everyone watching to kit out their own Grenadier.”
INEOS links with the Mercedes F1 team
INEOS has been a principal partner and shareholder in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team since 2020 and now holds a one-third stake. According to the company, the involvement reflects its broader commitment to high-performance sport.
Launched in 2022, the Grenadier was engineered from the ground up to tackle tough off-road environments while retaining on-road comfort and refinement. It combines British design with German engineering, and a double-cab pick-up version, the Quartermaster, followed in 2023.

The full ‘Grit Stop’ video can be viewed online. Sold to customers in over 50 countries, the Grenadier can be personalised through the configurator on the brand’s website, with details of the customisation options at www.ineosgrenadier.com.
