- Final round at Zwartkops on 16-17 October.
- Three championships still to be decided.
- Werner Venter leads Devon Scott 44 to 42.
- Kobus Reyneke leads Connor Weston by three.
- Julian van der Watt leads SATC on 125.
Three titles remain open as the 2026 GR Cup and South African Touring Cars (SATC) championships reach their seventh and final round at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria this weekend, 16 and 17 October. Because Round 6 at Killarney was brought to a premature close, the standings arrive at the finale unchanged since Round 5 at Aldo Scribante in August.
The circuit, which has already hosted one round this season, is also home to the GR Driving Academy of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing South Africa (TGRSA), which gives the result extra weight for several competitors.
GR Cup Dealer Challenge title fight
NMI Toyota Menlyn’s Werner Venter leads GR Driving Academy’s Devon Scott by just two points, 44 to 42, with two races left. NMI Toyota Centurion’s Theo Brits is a distant third on 30, ahead of Paul de Vos on 28 and Rola Toyota’s Marius Claasen on 24.
“I’m two points behind Werner, so the primary goal is the championship, I need to beat him in both races,” said Scott, who also wants to beat Nabil Abdool for overall turbo class honours at the academy’s home circuit.
Media Challenge and GR Cup Hot Seat
SuperSport’s Abdool has already secured the Media Challenge, having won all ten races so far for 70 points. News24 Motoring’s Craig Nicholson is second on 48, while Justin Ford and AutoTrader’s Tayedza Mbiri share third on 25.
For the final Hot Seat of 2026, two guests will race for the first time this season. Broadcaster Kriya Gangiah, whose automatic GR Yaris AT debut at Killarney was aborted, moves to the manual car, while sports broadcaster Mpho Maboi takes over the automatic for her debut at a circuit she has raced at before.
GR86 Development Academy and SATC standings
Kobus Reyneke holds a three-point lead over Connor Weston, 52 to 49, after their coming-together at Turn 6 at Aldo Scribante. Emma Dowling is third on 33 and Kian Fussel fourth on 29.
In SATC, Julian van der Watt leads on 125 points, 24 clear of Klayden ‘KC’ Ensor-Smith on 101, with the outright title still mathematically open. TGRSA’s GR Corolla drivers Jason Coetzee, on 93, and Michael van Rooyen, on 91, remain within reach of the runner-up spot. Keegan Campos follows on 85 and Andrew Schofield on 69.
Racing takes place at Zwartkops Raceway, just outside Pretoria, on 16 and 17 October, with two races remaining to settle each GR Cup title.
