Participation by Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) in the 5th edition of naamsa Auto Week 2026 covers an electrified vehicle road trip, exhibitions, executive talks, a vehicle display and a tour of its Prospecton plant. The event takes place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, where the company has built vehicles for South Africa and export markets for decades.
“It provides an opportunity to showcase not only our products and technologies, but also the people, partnerships and investments that continue to drive South Africa’s automotive sector forward,” said Andrew Kirby, President and CEO of Toyota South Africa Motors.
Toyota electrified fleet on the NEV road trip
The programme began with the annual NEV road trip. Toyota entered the bZ4X and Lexus RZ battery electric vehicles alongside the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, in line with its multi-pathway approach to carbon neutrality, which offers a range of technologies to suit different driving needs, infrastructure readiness and market conditions.
Supplier development and skills at Auto Week
At the naamsa Transformation Day, the carmaker will exhibit businesses that have progressed through its Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme, showing how such initiatives can open opportunities for previously disadvantaged entrepreneurs and strengthen local supply chains.
A separate Skills Development Stand will present technical training, artisan development, learnerships, internships and graduate programmes aimed at future manufacturing talent.
Toyota executives and new models on show
Kirby will be joined in discussions by Nigel Ward, Bronwyn Kilpatrick, Nsikelelo Radebe, Tania Hughes and Kim Nisbet, while a Toyota Global TED-style presentation will cover international automotive trends, future mobility and manufacturing.
Delegates can also see products launched during 2026: the RAV4 GR Sport, bZ4X Touring, Corolla Cross 60th anniversary and Hilux Legend.
Prospecton plant tour and Mobility Partner role
As Mobility Partner, TSAM is supplying a fleet of Toyota vehicles to transport delegates, dignitaries, industry leaders and guests throughout the week. Visitors will be welcomed to the Prospecton facility, one of Africa’s largest automotive manufacturing plants, on a dedicated tour, and the company will also host a Ministerial Networking Golf Day for government representatives, business leaders and industry stakeholders.
