Volkswagen California facelift goes on sale in the UK from £54 065

California exterior design and colours

Designers have restyled the front end below the bonnet. Larger LED headlights now give the familiar VW Bus face a sharper look. Power latching sliding doors and a power tailgate have been added, along with new alloy wheel designs from 17 to 19 inches.

Paint choices now total 19 across solid, two-tone and metallic finishes, with an optional black roof. New additions are Grenadilla Black, Grey Brown, Reed Green and Sunset Red, all metallic, plus two-tone Candy White and Grey Brown, and Grenadilla Black and Sunset Red.

Cockpit, cabin and eHybrid climate system

Inside, a redesigned cockpit centres on a 12.9-inch infotainment system that handles navigation, media, smartphone integration and camping monitoring functions. It works alongside a 10-inch digital driver display. The cabin also gains a California-specific fabric and colour scheme, new ambient lighting and stronger phone charging, rated at 25 W wireless or 60 W through USB-C.

Specific to the California eHybrid 4MOTION is a new electric stationary air conditioning system. It can cool, ventilate and heat the campervan for up to eight hours while it is charging, parked or in use as a camper.

Travel Assist and Emergency Assist updates

Software and driver assistance updates bring the latest generation of Travel Assist, which supports assisted lane changes on motorways and, for the first time, recognises traffic lights. Integrated Emergency Assist can guide the vehicle to the hard shoulder or outermost lane if the driver suffers a medical emergency.

UK prices, finance and warranty

Each trim is offered in the UK with a 150 PS 2.0 TDI and seven-speed DSG or a 245 PS 1.5 eHybrid with six-speed DSG and 4MOTION. Excluding VAT, the Beach costs £54 065 or £61 105, the Coast £58 340 or £65 380, and the Ocean £65 255 or £72 295. Including VAT and on-the-road costs, prices run from £66 334 to £87 970.

Finance offers for orders placed by 5 January 2027 start from £549 a month on a Solutions Personal Contract Plan or £469 a month through Business Contract Hire. The 5+ Promise is included at no extra cost, covering five services, or three for electric models, three MOTs, a five-year warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
