- 6.01 million deliveries after nine months.
- Global deliveries down 9 percent year-on-year.
- 678,700 all-electric vehicles delivered by September.
- European BEV order book doubled since 2025.
- Nearly 150,000 orders for Electric Urban Cars.
Customers around the world took delivery of 6.01 million vehicles from the Volkswagen Group in the first nine months of the year, 9 percent fewer than the 6.60 million recorded in the same period last year. Growth in South America, Western Europe and Central and Eastern Europe was more than offset by market-related declines of 30 percent in China and 4 percent in North America.
At the same time, electric models are gaining ground in Europe. Around 40 percent of the group’s European order book now consists of all-electric cars, and one in five of the vehicles it delivers there runs on battery power alone.
Volkswagen Group deliveries by region
European deliveries rose by 1.7 percent to 2,956,000 vehicles, with growth of 1.1 percent in Western Europe and 5.3 percent in Central and Eastern Europe. Germany, the home market, recorded an increase of 0.9 percent.
In South America, 502,500 vehicles reached customers, up 4.3 percent, with Brazil growing by 12.3 percent. North America fell 4.0 percent to 680,200 units, and deliveries in the United States dropped by 7.8 percent amid tariffs and regulatory changes. Asia-Pacific declined by 27.9 percent to 1,591,300 units, as China fell by 30.2 percent, particularly in combustion-engine vehicles.
Electric vehicle demand in Europe
Worldwide, the group delivered 678,700 all-electric vehicles by the end of September, down 5 percent on the 717,700 of a year earlier. Europe grew by 20 percent in the third quarter, and the electric share there rose from 18 to 20 percent after nine months. Electric order intake in Europe climbed by more than 60 percent in the quarter, and the electric order book has doubled compared with year-end 2025.
Martin Sander, Member of the Group’s Extended Executive Committee for Sales, said: “In our home market, we are seeing a significantly accelerated trend towards all-electric vehicles.” He pointed to high fuel prices and a wider range of entry-level models.
Electric Urban Car Family orders
Among those entry-level cars is the Electric Urban Car Family, made up of the VW ID. Polo and ID. Cross2, Škoda Epiq and CUPRA Raval. The four models have attracted nearly 150,000 orders to date. The best-selling electric car across the group so far this year is the Škoda Elroq, with 92,200 deliveries, ahead of the Volkswagen ID.4/ID.5 on 81,900.
China and United States electric sales
Plug-in hybrid and range-extender models totalled 368,000 deliveries globally, around 23 percent up. In China, electrified deliveries rose by around 30 percent in the third quarter, helped by new, locally developed models. In the United States, by contrast, all-electric deliveries fell by 78 percent after government subsidy programmes expired.
