Showers and thundershowers are set to roll across much of South Africa this Sunday, with storms expected over Johannesburg, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Mahikeng and Kimberley, where the mercury climbs to a hot 33C. Further north, Polokwane can look forward to mostly clear skies and 30C, Mbombela will be cloudy and warm at 31C, and Cape Town wakes to mist before reaching a pleasant 25C. The South African Weather Service has issued several warnings for extreme veld fire conditions, so please take extra care with any open flames and report fires promptly.

At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.
