Friday brings a hot and unsettled day to much of the interior, with showers and thundershowers expected over Gauteng, the Free State, North West and the Northern Cape, where Kimberley is set to reach a sweltering 35C. Mpumalanga can expect thunderstorms with Mbombela climbing to 34C, while Polokwane stays partly cloudy at 32C. Along the coast it is milder, with high-level cloud over Cape Town (12-20C), slight rain in Durban (20-26C) and partly cloudy skies in Gqeberha, and the South African Weather Service has issued several minor warnings for damaging waves, so take care near the shoreline.
