Judges at the Auto Express Used Car Awards 2026 have given the Alpine A110 the title of Best Used Sports Car, almost a decade after the coupe was unveiled.
The award recognises the car’s lightweight construction, agility and driving experience. It comes as production of the current generation has ended and the brand prepares an electric successor.

Why Auto Express chose the A110
Richard Ingram, Deputy Editor of Auto Express, said: “Weighing just over a tonne, it doesn’t need to be powerful to go fast. It’s enormously satisfying to drive, and relatively easy to live with if you go for the Legende with its rear parking camera and parking sensors.”
This is not the first recognition from the magazine. The second-generation model was named Coupé of the Year at the Auto Express New Car Awards in both 2019 and 2020.
Alpine A110 engineering and layout
From the start, the sports car has put lightness, balance and agility ahead of outright power. It uses aluminium construction, compact dimensions, a mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged engine and double-wishbone suspension, a combination aimed at precision, responsiveness and feedback.
End of second-generation production
Building of the second-generation car concluded at the Manufacture Alpine Dieppe Jean Rédélé in France in July 2026, with 28,701 examples made since 2017. Its engineering, design and limited production run have already given it the status of a modern classic among enthusiasts.
Electric third-generation A110 in development
Work is under way on a fully electric replacement based on the new Alpine Performance Platform (APP). The third-generation model will keep the focus on low weight, agility and driver engagement that has defined the nameplate.
Nic Burnside, Alpine Brand Director for the UK, said the brand’s commitment to the principles behind the A110 “remains unchanged, as we embrace an exciting new era of electric performance.” More information about the brand is available at www.alpinecars.com.
