Truckman, a British-based pick-up accessories specialist, has partnered with BYD on an approved accessories range for the SHARK plug-in hybrid pick-up. The range, which includes load bed hardtops, tonneau covers and cross bars, can be ordered from today at BYD retailers in the UK.
The company has more than 40 years of experience supplying pick-up accessories. Its fitments allow owners to set up the vehicle for business use, leisure or both.
Truckman hardtops for the SHARK load bed
The Grand Hardtop is colour coded to match the vehicle and comes with pop-out windows, rear window heating and remote central locking. It adds weatherproof carrying capacity to the 1200-litre load bed, and its curving window line keeps the profile low. In the UK it costs £2 716.22.
A tougher option is the M-Series, which has a powder-coated finish for more demanding work. Gull-wing side windows allow loading from the sides as well as the rear, and a modular design with several mounting points lets it carry further accessories. It is priced at £2 412.00.
Tonneau covers, cross bars and DragMat
Two tonneau covers are offered. The manually retractable version costs £1 245.60, while an electrically retractable cover that opens and closes through a smartphone app is £1 756.80. Both carry an IP56 weather resistance rating and a T-slot system for optional cargo bars.
Those bars include the Heavy Duty Black Cross Bars at £344.40. Built from aluminium, they handle a dynamic load of 200kg and a static load of 360kg. For reaching items deep in the bed, the DragMat, from £244.15, slides out on ergonomic handles, takes more than 100kg of tools, camping gear or appliances and protects the bed from scuffs and scratches.
BYD SHARK plug-in hybrid powertrain
The pick-up uses a DMO plug-in hybrid system, with the O standing for off-road, pairing electric drive with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 436PS and 652Nm, reaches 62mph from rest in 5.7 seconds and returns up to 80.7mpg, with a range of up to 419 miles on a full tank and full battery.
