Continental EcoContact 6 Q tyres fitted to new Audi Q3 at the factory

Buyers of Audi’s new Q3 compact SUV will roll out of the showroom on Continental rubber, after the tyre maker was granted original equipment approvals for its EcoContact 6 Q.

The EcoContact 6 Q is a summer tyre designed for particularly low rolling resistance and high energy efficiency. A specially developed rubber compound and an optimised tread pattern reduce rolling resistance, which helps to lower fuel consumption.

EcoContact 6 Q noise and braking

Alongside its efficiency focus, the tyre is designed for low rolling noise and short braking distances on both wet and dry surfaces. Enhanced pattern technologies in the tread blocks, sipes and lateral grooves keep sound emissions down without compromising the other performance aspects of the tyre.

Green Chili 2.0 compound and tread design

Continental uses its Green Chili 2.0 silica compound in the EcoContact 6 Q. The compound improves rolling resistance to reduce both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and it also reduces tyre wear, contributing to higher mileage.

A tailor-made tread pattern works with asymmetric rib and sipe geometry. Together, these help the driver maintain control whatever the conditions, wet or dry.

Audi Q3 tyre sizes approved

Three R0-marked sizes are approved for the new Audi Q3. The 18-inch option is a 235/55 R18 100V FR, while the 19-inch fitment is a 255/45 R19 100V FR.

For the largest wheels, the approved tyre is a 255/40 R20 97V FR. All three carry the EcoContact 6 Q name and are the sizes in which the tyre will be fitted to the SUV as original equipment.
