September sales at GWM reached 114,944 new vehicles, an increase of 1.37% month on month. Overseas sales rose 19.40% year on year, while new energy vehicle (NEV) sales climbed 3.15% over the previous month.
According to the manufacturer, several regional markets are advancing together, which is giving its global layout a better balance and stronger links across powertrains and regions.

GWM all-powertrain strategy and diesel engine
The company’s overseas expansion rests on a single architecture that supports ICE, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, BEV and hydrogen power, an approach it calls “one architecture, all-power compatibility”. This lets it adapt quickly to multi-energy markets such as the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Australia instead of following a one-size-fits-all electric plan.
Diesel is one example. A new 3.0T inline-four diesel engine produces 620 N·m of peak torque and is paired with a self-developed 9-speed automatic transmission and 4WD. With it, the brand is entering the high-end pickup segment in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, long dominated by Japanese and American makers. Separately, the ORA 5 is now being launched globally under a “one car, multiple powertrains” concept.
Regional markets and HAVAL H7 crash test
Europe is treated as a high-potential market, while Southeast Asia, South America and Africa remain base markets. Rather than depending on growth in one region, GWM builds product fit and dealer channels market by market under an “in the local, for the local” approach. In September its Safety Laboratory also completed its 4,000th full-vehicle crash test, using the HAVAL H7. For GWM, safety is “not a marketing gimmick but a ticket to global competition”.
Turin awards and South African launches
Six product lineups were shown at the 2026 Turin Auto Show, which opened on September 11. There, the ORA 5 won the TADA Best Interior Design Award in the Family Car category, and the TANK 300 Hi4-T took the TADA Best Technological Innovation Award in the Premium Car category for its Hi4-T architecture.
In South Africa, a TANK customer event in Cape Town included gravel slalom, a 4×4 off-road skills course and an off-road adventure challenge. The GWM TANK 500 and GWM P500 3.0 Diesel were launched in the country from September 16 to 18, with media and customers driving them on urban and unpaved roads. Chile hosted a HAVAL H7 Max launch and media test drive on September 15 and 16.
GWM after-sales training and next steps
From September 14 to 18, the brand held its first offline after-sales technical training for the CIS region in Kazakhstan, introducing a university-industry partnership model. Next, it plans to keep matching regional energy structures and customer needs as more global strategic models are launched.
