- No AdBlue required for emissions system.
- ADAS and ISUZU INSIGHT connectivity added.
- F-Series expected early next year.
Isuzu Motors South Africa will launch its Next Generation N-Series trucks in South Africa in November, with updates to technology and design aimed at efficiency, safety, driver comfort and operating value for commercial fleets.
The range keeps the chassis and commercial vehicle capabilities of the previous models, with upgrades directed at reliability, fuel efficiency, uptime, safety and total cost of ownership. A Next Generation F-Series is expected to enter the market early next year.
Isuzu N-Series engines and emissions
Selected models use Euro 5 engines with an exhaust after-treatment system that combines a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and a Particulate Oxidation Catalyst (POC). The system needs no AdBlue or other additives and is designed to run on 50 ppm diesel, although 10 ppm diesel is best suited to it. This means fleet operators do not have to manage an AdBlue supply.
The revised cab also has aerodynamic changes intended to improve airflow over the vehicle and deliver marginal fuel-economy gains.
Technology, safety and cab changes
ISUZU INSIGHT provides fleet-related vehicle information, and selected models are fitted with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Bi-LED headlights with integrated Daytime Running Lights are included, and Automated Manual Transmissions are available on applicable models.
The redesigned cab brings changes to the driving position, steering wheel, controls and seating, with mechanical suspension seats on selected N-Series models. “Technology only adds value when it works for the business,” said Mpho Nkhumeleni, Department Executive for Commercial Vehicle Sales at Isuzu Motors South Africa.
Isuzu truck history in South Africa
The first Isuzu Elfin TKG10 1.5-ton truck arrived in South Africa in 1964, followed by successive generations of J-Series, N-Series, F-Series, G-Series and FX/FY trucks. The Gqeberha plant builds commercial vehicles for the South African market and exports into Sub-Saharan Africa, and Isuzu has led South Africa’s combined medium- and heavy-truck market, excluding vans and buses, for 13 consecutive years.
The Next Generation N-Series will be supported locally by Isuzu’s commercial vehicle dealer network, aftersales and parts, with the official South African launch set for November. Pricing has not yet been announced.
