smart has revealed the all-electric smart #2 at the Paris Motor Show, marking the return of the brand’s ultra-compact urban two-seater. The unveiling comes thirty years after the original smart two-seater concept was shown in Paris.
The smart #2 measures 2,746 mm in length and keeps the ‘wheels-at-the-corners’ stance of earlier generations. Its turning circle is 6.95 metres curb-to-curb. The two-tone body colour and Split Tailgate of the original smart fortwo have been carried over in updated form.

The car is built on the newly developed Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, engineered specifically for the two-seater. A rear-mounted 60 kW electric motor delivers 130 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, which run on wider tyres. The 35.8 kWh LFP battery provides up to 180 miles of combined range (WLTP, target value).
DC fast charging at 65 kW takes the battery from 10% to 80% within 20 minutes, and AC charging of up to 11 kW is offered. Vehicle-to-load capability is included. The five-link rear suspension is a first in its class, and works with the low centre of gravity of the floor-mounted battery. Dr Tilo Schweers, Vice President R&D Europe of smart Europe GmbH, said the car was tested “on proving grounds, in wind tunnels, and on public roads across different climates.”
Safety cell and driver assistance
The body uses the Tridion Cell Evo, the next generation of the safety cell used by smart since its first model. Standard driver assistance includes smart Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Highway Assist. Inside, a bench-style seat, a 10.1-inch central screen, an 8.8-inch driver display and an eight-year Connectivity Package are fitted.
smart #2 trim lines in the UK
Two core trim lines, Pure and Premium, have been announced for the UK, alongside a limited Couture Edition. Pure has V2L, LED headlamps and taillights with automatic high beam. Premium adds 11 kW AC charging, a glass roof, heated faux leather seats and a seven-speaker Sennheiser Sound System.
The Couture Edition is limited to 999 units in Europe and has Atelier White Matte paint, a Platinum Gold roof, 16-inch Lyra rims and a numbered interior badge, with full Premium specification.
smart #2 price and pre-orders in the UK
Full UK pricing will be announced later this year, with the smart #2 set to be available from less than £20 000. Pre-orders open from Spring 2027, and customers can register their interest with their local smart retailer. The vehicle is still undergoing homologation, and specifications are subject to change.
