The Renault 5 E-Tech electric has recorded more than 19 000 registrations in the United Kingdom since customer deliveries began there in spring 2025. More than 10 000 of those cars have been registered across all channels so far in 2026.
The electric supermini topped the UK’s electric car registration charts in April and July 2026.

Renault 5 sales to private buyers
Private buyers account for more than 10 000 UK registrations since launch. The Renault 5 was the best-selling EV to private buyers in the UK in January, April and July 2026, and in April, May, October and November 2025. It was also the best-selling retail EV in the B-segment during the second quarter of 2026.
Around 85% of UK retail customers are new to Renault, with many also new to electric motoring. Renault’s customer data shows buyers span generations, with high conquest levels among younger customers as well as those old enough to remember the original Renault 5.
Awards for the Renault 5 E-Tech electric
The car has collected 50 awards to date. It won European Car of the Year 2025 before the first UK deliveries began, and its awards include What Car? Car of the Year, Top Gear Car of the Year and UK Car of the Year 2026. It has also taken New Car of the Year and New EV of the Year at the AM Awards 2026, plus three awards at the Autotrader Drivers’ Choice Awards.
Popular trims, colours and trade-ins
In the UK, the iconic five, the highest standard trim level, accounts for 45% of the sales mix since launch. Pop Yellow! is the most popular colour at 26% of registrations, ahead of Diamond Black at 23% and Midnight Blue at 21%. Pop Green! leads on evolution at 34% and techno+ at 22%, Pop Yellow! takes 41% of iconic five orders, and Midnight Blue leads on Roland Garros at 29%.
Vehicles part-exchanged against a new Renault 5 in the UK include a Porsche Cayenne, a Ford Mustang, a Porsche Boxster, a Range Rover Velar, a Ford Ranger, a Tesla and several Audi TTs. More common trade-ins include the Fiat 500, MINI and Ford Fiesta, and many Renault ZOE owners have moved to the Renault 5.
