Vauxhall has added a petrol powertrain to the Frontera range, giving the family SUV a new lower entry price in the United Kingdom of £22 820 on the road. The petrol version joins the existing electric and 48V hybrid models, so the Frontera is now offered with a choice of three powertrains.
Frontera petrol engine and performance
The new engine is a turbocharged 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit that produces 100PS and 205Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and returns 47.1mpg on the WLTP combined cycle.
The Frontera petrol accelerates from 0-62mph in 12.4 seconds in five-seat form. With seven seats fitted, the time extends to 13.3 seconds.
Seven-seat option for GS and Ultimate
A third row of seats is available as an option on GS and Ultimate versions at £550, raising capacity to seven occupants. Vauxhall says this makes the Frontera the most compact seven-seater on the market.
Frontera trim levels and equipment
The petrol Frontera is offered in three trims. The Design model comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electronic climate control, Intelli-LED headlights, a rear-view camera, cruise control and speed sign recognition.
The GS adds a gloss black roof and matching gloss black wing mirrors, Intelli-Seats for the driver and front passenger, satellite navigation, a wireless phone charger and blind spot alert. The Ultimate adds a heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, heated front seats, high-gloss black roof rails and LED front fog lamps.
