Volkswagen has revealed the new ID. Tiguan, a mid-size electric SUV that will succeed the ID.4 and ID.5, of which more than 950 000 units have been built. The ID. Tiguan will be launched at the beginning of 2027 and will be sold alongside the current Tiguan with petrol, diesel and hybrid drives.
The electric model will be built in Emden, Germany, while the combustion-engined Tiguan is built in Wolfsburg.

ID. Tiguan drive systems and range
Three versions will be offered. The first is rear-wheel drive with 140 kW (190 PS) and a 58 kWh battery, the second is rear-wheel drive with 210 kW (286 PS) and a 77 kWh battery, and the third is a 220 kW (299 PS) 4MOTION all-wheel drive model, also with the 77 kWh battery. WLTP range reaches up to 600 km depending on power and battery size.
Towing capacity is up to 1 800 kg with the 58 kWh battery and up to 2 000 kg with the 77 kWh battery. There is a 32-litre frunk and a luggage compartment of up to 534 litres. Trim levels are Trend, Life, Style and R-Line. Thomas Schäfer, CEO of the Volkswagen brand, said the ID. Tiguan brings together the Tiguan and the ID.4 and ID.5, offering “a range of up to 600 kilometres” thanks to MEB+.
Design and interior of the ID. Tiguan
The exterior follows Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design language, replacing the softer crossover shape of its predecessors with a more upright SUV design. Pull-style door handles return. Inside, a 10-inch driver display and a 15-inch infotainment screen are joined by an optional 12-inch co-driver display, the first in a European Volkswagen, with a privacy mode that hides it from the driver and supports Bluetooth headphones.
Physical buttons return for the air conditioning, the steering wheel and the volume controller in the centre console. New Retro displays can show the blue-red instruments of a Golf IV, with a power display in place of the rev counter, and a virtual garage of six classic Volkswagen models.
Driver assistance and comfort equipment
One-pedal driving is standard. The optional Connected Travel Assist allows assisted lane changes on motorways and stops the car at red traffic lights. Other options include massage and ventilated front seats, a 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, two Qi2 wireless charging pads, a shareable Digital Key and a PowerSocket adapter for Vehicle-to-Load.

ID. Tiguan pre-sales in Europe
Pre-sales for the ID. Tiguan start in Germany and many other European countries on 13 October, at prices from 42 695 euros.
