Saturday brings a warm, unsettled day to much of the country, with showers and thundershowers expected over Gauteng, the Free State, Mpumalanga, North West and the Northern Cape, where Kimberley is set to be the hottest spot at 34C and Mahikeng and Bloemfontein reach 33C and 32C. The South African Weather Service has issued several warnings for severe thunderstorms at a minor level and for extreme veld fire conditions, so keep an eye on the skies and take extra care with anything that could spark a fire. Elsewhere, Cape Town enjoys clear skies and a pleasant 29C, Polokwane stays partly cloudy at 30C, Durban sees slight rain with a mild 21 to 26C, and Gqeberha remains cloudy and cooler with a top of 21C.

Move livestock and cars to safe sheltered areas as there may be flying debris.
