With six days to go, organisers of the aftermarket trade show have outlined what visitors can expect across three days at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, from 27 to 29 October. Messe Frankfurt South Africa runs the annual event, which combines product displays, technical conferences, live demonstrations and business matchmaking.
“Automechanika Johannesburg brings local and international industry professionals together to explore products, meet suppliers and discuss the issues shaping the automotive aftermarket,” says Michael Dehn, managing director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa. This year marks the 11th edition.

The exhibition covers parts and components, accessories and customising, repair and maintenance, car wash and reconditioning, electronics and systems, and management and digital solutions. Workshop owners, distributors, retailers and fleet professionals can look at engine and suspension components, diagnostic equipment, workshop software, vehicle-care products, and electric vehicle and hybrid technologies.
Technical and logistics conferences
On 28 October, the Automotive Remanufacturers’ Association Central Region Tech-Talk Conference will deal with engine problems linked to poor-quality diesel fuel, the future of diesel fuel injection, cooling systems, global industry trends and repair solutions.
Logistics operators and fleet managers can attend the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s regional conference on 28 and 29 October, presented with CILT South Africa, CILT Namibia and CILT Zimbabwe. Topics include transport corridors, cross-border harmonisation, safety and security, skills development, and workforce needs for new energy vehicles and digital logistics. Goldwagen and Global One Automotive Southern Africa will also host closed conferences.
Live demonstrations and the MIWA pavilion
Hosted by the Motor Industry Workshop Association, the MIWA SpannerTorque Pavilion brings together 12 companies and organisations representing workshops, parts suppliers, automotive technology and industry initiatives. Nearby, a live assembly using parts from Backdraft Cobra will show a car built from the chassis up, with control arms, hubs, brakes, shock absorbers, steering and wheels fitted and removed.
Rhino Linings will display coatings on a customised trailer with samples visitors can handle. BodyShop News Africa’s Student Journalist Program, supported by Sherwin-Williams, gives journalism students hands-on experience reporting alongside its editorial team.

Registration and business matchmaking
Registration includes free access to the Business Matchmaking Espresso Meet Up platform, which lets visitors, exhibitors, delegates and trade buyers find contacts and schedule meetings before arriving. Dehn encourages professionals to register, review the conference programme and complete their matchmaking profiles. Free trade visitor passes are available at app.messereg.com, and exhibitor information is at www.automechanikasa.co.za.
