- Hyundai SA named Future of HR finalist.
- 338 active apprentices, including 80 women.
- 33 000 applications for 150 YES positions.
- Awards held 14-15 October in Fourways.
Hyundai Automotive South Africa has been named a finalist in the 2026 Future of HR Awards. The recognition centres on the company’s focus on women and youth empowerment, skills creation and an inclusive workplace, which it treats as strategic drivers of business growth. For South Africans looking for a way into the motor industry, the nomination points to the company’s apprenticeship and youth employment work.

About the Future of HR Awards
According to Ralf Fletcher, Top Media CEO and organiser of the awards, the event celebrates the visionaries, innovators and change-makers who are shaping the future of work across Africa.
Fletcher said being recognised as a finalist “places the company among an elite group of industry pioneers setting the benchmark for organisational excellence.”
Hyundai apprenticeship programme and women in trades
The recognition comes as Hyundai expands its investment in South Africa’s talent pipeline. Its national apprenticeship programme supports 338 active apprentices, including 80 women, as the company works against traditional gender barriers in automotive technical trades.
Christine Masinga, Human Resources Director at Hyundai Automotive South Africa, said empowerment is part of how the company builds the business rather than a programme running parallel to it. “Our responsibility is to create meaningful opportunities that translate into lasting capability,” she said.
Youth demand for Hyundai YES positions
The scale of youth demand was shown by Hyundai’s recent Youth Employment Service (YES) programme, which attracted 33 000 applications for just 150 positions. The response reflected both the appetite for opportunity and the urgency of South Africa’s youth unemployment challenge.
Stanley Anderson, CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, said: “Our responsibility is to create opportunities that allow people to enter, grow and ultimately lead.”
Awards date and venue in Gauteng
Powered by the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the Future of HR Conference and Awards takes place on 14-15 October in Fourways, Gauteng. The event brings together human resources and business executives to explore the future of work across Africa, and winners will be named there.
