Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the STX Concept and the GSE 27FE Formula E racing car were the two world premieres on the Opel stand. Chief executive Florian Huettl presented them alongside Vice President Marketing Rebecca Reinermann and Vice President Design Mark Adams.
Huettl said the brand is “on course for growth” after the launches of the Grandland, Mokka and Frontera, and confirmed four new models by 2030 along with investments of more than one billion euros in Germany.
Opel STX Concept design study
The name stands for Sports Tourer eXperimental, and the study reinterprets the estate body style for a new generation. It wears a more prominent Opel Vizor and a new light signature, which Adams described as “an even bolder, more confident brand face”.
Beyond its styling, the concept uses solutions aimed at better aerodynamics and efficiency. It anticipates the further development of the Sports Tourer and already carries elements of future Opel models.
GSE 27FE Formula E race car
Built for the GEN4 generation of the Formula E World Championship, which begins with the coming season, the GSE 27FE follows the Mokka GSE Rally into motorsport. The electric racer has permanent all-wheel drive, more than 800 hp and recuperation power of up to 700 kW.
Reinermann said GSE comes to life across three areas, Race, Drive and Play. For Play, the stand hosts a Pit Stop Experience developed with GIANTX, where visitors race on a digital Trackmania track.
Opel Corsa GSE and Astra GSE Line
Making its exhibition debut, the electric Corsa GSE produces 207 kW (281 hp) and 345 N.m, reaching 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. That makes it the most powerful Corsa to date and quicker than any other current production Opel. Its combined WLTP energy consumption is 16.0 to 17.0 kWh/100 km.
A new GSE Line brings the styling to other drive types, starting with the Astra GSE Line, available from next spring. Visitors can see the range at booth A42 in hall 4 until October 18.
