- Peugeot reveals RCZ Vision electric concept coupé.
- 500 hp and up to 600 km range.
- 10 to 80% charge in 10 minutes.
- Solid-state battery with 1,000 V architecture.
- Previews Hypersquare and new i-Cockpit.
Details of the RCZ Vision, a concept that previews the design and technology of future Peugeot models, have been released by the French manufacturer. The car is a successor to the RCZ coupé built from 2009 to 2015, which has since become a collector’s item.
Peugeot describes the concept as a brand manifesto. It is also the first expression of the “Feline Future” design language, which will shape the company’s future models.
RCZ Vision electric powertrain and battery
The concept sits on an architecture based on the STLA One platform, a modular base designed to support future technologies, particularly X-by-Wire systems. Its electric powertrain produces 500 hp, with a driving range of up to 600 km and energy consumption of 11.5 kWh/100 km.
Power is stored in a 110 mm solid-state battery developed with Factorial Energy. Built on a 1,000 V architecture, it can take its state of charge from 10% to 80% in 10 minutes. The higher energy density lets more electricity be stored in a smaller volume.
Hypersquare and the new Peugeot i-Cockpit
Inside, the coupé previews a future generation of the i-Cockpit, combining the Hypersquare steering control with transparent Micro LED displays. The central screen can be switched off completely, virtually disappearing from view, while essential information remains on the display above Hypersquare. The concept uses the same production version of Hypersquare that will appear in the next-generation E-208.
“With emotion at its heart, this manifesto embodies the boldness of PEUGEOT,” said Alain Favey, CEO of Peugeot.
Steer-by-Wire and Brake-by-Wire technology
Steering is fully electronic, with no mechanical link to the wheels, and the ratio adapts to speed. Maximum rotation is slightly less than one full turn, compared with three for a conventional steering wheel. The RCZ Vision is also the first Peugeot with Brake-by-Wire, which replaces the hydraulic connection between pedal and brakes with an electronic control. A Level 2++ hands-free driving function is available on demand in town and on the open road.
Feline Future design principles
Feline Future is built around five principles: Freedom, Courage, Elegance, Strength and Instinct. Design director Matthias Hossann said the language was “born from the tension between feline strength and the precision of materials”. Peugeot has not announced production plans or pricing for the RCZ Vision, which remains a concept.
